History

From Maebashi to Suvereto

The story begins with Hideyuki Miyakawa, who as a young man traveled from Japan to Europe on a motorcycle. In Italy, he met Marisa Bassano, and after years in Turin, the family continued towards Tuscany. In 1983, Azienda Agricola Bulichella was founded at Suvereto as a place where agriculture, community and respect for nature should go together.

Bulichella was run early on with an ecological idea: the land should be treated as something alive, not just as something to be exploited. Today, the farm is still associated with the Miyakawa family and with an idea of wine as an expression of place, people and vintage.

The space

Suvereto close to the sea

Bulichella is located in the Val di Cornia near the medieval town of Suvereto. The area is known for warmth, light and a coastal freshness, which gives the wines their balance of ripe fruit, structure and slightly salty minerality.

Production began with Sangiovese, Vermentino, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Later, the winery has continued to work with, among others, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Grenache to find the grapes that best tell about Sovereto's soil and climate.

The wines at Villa Bianca

Five bottles from the same house

Tuscanio Bianco shows the bright, fresh side of Bulichella. Rubino is the open red for the table. Coldipietrerosse and Montecristo go deeper into the Suvereto DOCG with Cabernet, Merlot and Petit Verdot, while Hide is the winery's pure Syrah with dark fruit and spicy calm.

Read the page as a background for the wines: not as a technical data sheet, but as the story of why exactly Bulichella fits into Villa Bianca's small southern European universe.

To the table

Wine, cheese and enough time

The Bulichella wines are chosen for the kind of table where the bottle does not stand alone: cheese, a simple dinner, good bread, some salt and conversations that are allowed to linger.
